"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened" (Matthew 7:7-11)

The above verse offers encouragement that truth does exist, and not only does it exists, but it can and will be found by those who honestly seek after it. This site is dedicated to this quest. We hope it will help you in your personal Search of Truth.

Jim R. Everett

Biography According to His Children

Of humble birth during the Great Depression, “Jimmy” became known as a young man of character. He was raised in the rural areas of central Texas by a father who farmed and a mother, whose strength to share her faith, helped define him for life. He never held his credentials up for others to see, but he was a diligent student of the Bible. He attended Florida Christian College in the late 1950’s to early 1960’s and studied at the feet of great men, whose eyes were directed on Christ and His teachings. Honored as the Outstanding Bible Student upon graduation from FCC, he continued his diligent study of the Bible his entire life. Jim relished a good study of the scriptures at their very depth, and he helped others to understand the reason for such exercises, yet he never missed the practical application of what those words were teaching. He had the opportunity to teach and preach in many places, both as a regular minister and during meetings. Christians in locations from Texas and Arkansas to Australia, the Philippines, South Africa and Zimbabwe were blessed to hear him teach. He also served as an elder at the Cedar Park church of Christ where he last worked as an evangelist. God did not grant him a dynamic speaking ability or a magnetic personality but simply a love for what was right and a willingness to challenge himself and others. He was a man with a passion for what was right and the discipline to serve His Creator all of his days on this earth and was supported in that endeavor by his loving wife, Margaret Ann (Keen) Everett, for 46 years, and his three faithful children. He passed from this life at age 65; too young, as defined by men. He is missed by many and yet he lives on in his teachings and sermons, some of which are available on this web site with many thanks.

Editor’s Note

My familiy lived in Cedar Park, Texas and worshipped with the congregation, where Jim preached and served as an elder. His dedication to the Lord, His family, and His work was obvious in Jim’s consistent study, research, preparation, writing, and presentation of God’s Word. He exemplified a father, grandfather, evangelist, and elder in strength, love, and wisdom, which I will never forget. I pray that some small part of his work preserved here will well represent his foresight in addressing issues that were then only budding but now are in full bloom. We would all do well to take heed to Jim’s example of laying up a spiritual inheritance for his children and loved ones that helps equip both them and us to face the challenges of our day.

Sincere gratitude is owed to his children, who extended permission to preserve and present some of Jim’s sermons and articles on this site and the Words Fitly Spoken web-site.
